Any remedies for preventing greying of hair??

Grey or white hair is caused by reduced amount of melanin which gives dark colour to the hair. The melanin can be decreased due to age, genetics or even by natural chemical changes in body. Other external factors might be pollution, stress of improper diet.

So, focus on proper healthy diet to prevent the grey or white hair.
• Eat Lots of green leafy vegetables,
• Include beet in your daily diet
• Eat fresh fruits & veggies
• Having curd or yoghurt
• Drink plenty of water
You must eat this diet regularly. It will not only benefit your skin making it smooth and soft but will also result in shiny long hair.
Apart from diet you can also try the following for dark hair:
1. Amla and methi seeds
Amla has been used in Ayurveda since long for all kinds of hair problems being a rich source of Vitamin C. Fenugreek or Methi seeds are loaded with several nutrients. Hence when combined together these super ingredients not only prevent premature greying but also promote hair growth.
Directions to use:
Add 6-7 pieces of Amla to 3 tbsp of an oil (coconut, olive, almond) and boil for a few minutes. Add 1 tbsp of methi seeds powder. Allow it to cool. Strain the mixture and apply all over the scalp at night. Wash out in the morning with a mild shampoo.
2. Black tea rinse
Black Tea contains caffeine which is full of antioxidants. It not only adds a natural dark shade to the hair but also encourages hair growth and strengthens it with a shine.
Boil a cup of water with 2 tbsps of black tea leaves. Allow it to cool at room temperature. Strain out the tea leaves and apply on hair. Allow drying for one or two hours. Rinse with cold water. Do not shampoo.
3. Almond oil and lemon juice
Vitamin E contained in almond oil is extremely beneficial for hair. It nourishes the roots and prevents premature greying.
Lemon juice adds gloss and volume to hair promoting healthy hair growth.
Directions to use:
Mix 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice to almond oil and massage thoroughly into the scalp and comb through hair. Wash out after 1 hour.
Note: You can use Coconut oil also instead of almond oil.
4. Henna and coffee
Henna forms a natural conditioner and a colorant for hair. It gives excellent results when combined with coffee.
Directions to use:
Add 1 tbsp of coffee powder to boiling hot water. Cool it and add the henna powder to make a paste. Keep it covered for a few hours. Mix in 1 tbsp of any oil of your choice and apply the paste gently over the entire hair. Wash off after an hour.
5. Curry leaves and oil
Curry leaves contain Vitamin B which helps to boost the pigment melanin in the hair follicles and prevent further greying. It is also a rich source of Beta-Keratin which helps prevent hair fall.
Directions to use:
Boil a cupful of curry leaves in a cup of coconut oil. Allow it to cool. Strain out the leaves and store. Apply on scalp and wash out after an hour. Try this 2-3 times a week.
6. Shikakai powder
Shikakai powder is known to be the best for healthy hair in Ayurveda. It acts as a natural shampoo and is very effective to reduce greying. Regular use of shikakai will cause a healthier scalp and noticeable hair growth.
Directions to use:
Make a paste of shikakai powder and curd and apply over the scalp. Wash out after half an hour.
7. Sesame Seed
Black sesame seeds are loaded with essential nutrients to produce melanin and keratin which are responsible for dark hair.
Direction to use:
Soak the sesame seeds in water to make them soft. Mash them into a paste with the help of a food processor. Apply the resulting paste to the scalp and hair. Wash out after an hour.
8. Oil Massage
Massaging hair with coconut, almond, olive or mustard oil can delay the greying of hair. However, ensure that the oil is fresh and organic.
